== German == === Etymology === From Middle High German niunouge, from Old High German niunouga (ca. 900). Equivalent to neun (“nine”) +‎ Auge (“eye”), after the orifices near the head. Compare Dutch negenoog, Danish niøje, Norwegian Nynorsk niauge, Swedish nejonöga.
