The name Neředa comes from Old Czech Neřěda, which is from Neręda, which was probably formed by prefix ne- added to deverbative ręd- (“to dilute”). Another possibility is that Neředa might be derived by negating personal name *Řed or *Ředa, which could be a hypocorrect shortening of a compound personal name Ředivoj or Ředihost.
