== Latin == === Etymology === Perhaps an ellipsis of mōstellāria fābula f (“ghost story”), from *mōstellum +‎ -ārius (suffix forming relational adjectives), from mōnstrum (“monstrosity, portent”) +‎ -lus (diminutive suffix), with simplification of -ns- to -s- (a common pronunciation change among Latin speakers).
