Derived from Tagalog kagitingan (“heroism”), due to 8 out of its 10 major roads being named after national heroes (Magsaysay, General Luna, Rajah Soliman, Rajah Matanda, Lapulapu, Dagohoy, Kalantiao, and Lakandula, with the other two being Katipunan (“congregation”) and Kalayaan (“freedom”)). Created in 1969.
