== English == === Etymology === Borrowed from Edo isoko (“outskirts, environs”), referring to the fact that some of the predecessors of the Isoko migrated from the Kingdom of Benin to modern-day Isokoland, and thus the name represented those who lived on the outskirts of the Benin Empire. === Noun === Isoko (plural Isoko or Isokos) A member of an ethnolinguistic group who inhabit the Isoko region of Delta State and Bayelsa State, Nigeria. ==== Derived terms ==== Isokoland (“land of the Isoko”) === Proper noun === Isoko The language spoken in the Isoko region and Niger Delta in Nigeria, by the Isoko people.
