Imker

== German ==
=== Etymology ===
From German Low German [Term?]. Obviously related to Imme (“bee”). There are two theories concerning the details of the development:
From Middle Low German immenkar (“beehive”), which is a compound with Middle Low German kar (“basket”). The component -ker < -kar would then have been secondarily associated with the Low German suffix -ker for occupations (compare Böttcher).
Directly derived from Imme with the mentioned suffix. Cognate with Dutch imker.
Either way, ultimately from Proto-West Germanic *imbjakaʀjō.
