== Old Norse == === Alternative forms === Hjarrandr === Etymology === From Proto-Germanic *Herzendô or Proto-Germanic *Herrendô from Proto-Germanic *herzô (“hinge”) therefore possibly meaning "the hinged one" or rather "the hanged one", equivalent to hjara +‎ -andi, cf. Old Norse hjarr (“hinge”) or maybe "the loud one", cf. Shetland sjara (“to rattle”).
