Hansdatter
التعريفات والمعاني
== Norwegian Bokmål ==
=== Etymology ===
From Hans (“male given name”) + datter (“daughter”), historically a patronymic meaning “daughter of Hans”. Unlike a hereditary surname, the traditional patronymic identified the bearer through her father's given name and ordinarily changed between generations. The form is now also retained as a rare hereditary surname.
Compare Danish Hansdatter, Swedish Hansdotter and Icelandic Hansdóttir (“female patronymic”).
