== Irish == === Alternative forms === Iúdach === Etymology === From Iúdach, from Old Irish Iudae (“Jew”) +‎ -ach, from Latin iūdaeus, from Ancient Greek Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos), from Biblical Hebrew יְהוּדִי (yəhûḏî). The initial G- arose from a reinterpretation of the sound /j/ as the lenited form of /ɟ/.
