== Polish == === Etymology === Apparently a wordplay calque of German Walddeutsche (“Forest Germans”). The Polish word Niemcy (“Germans”) comes from a word meaning "mute ones; ones who cannot speak (a Slavic language)", so in calquing the German word Walddeutsche (“Forest Germans”), the Poles used głuchy (“deaf”) rather than głusz (“wood”) to create a compound meaning "deaf-mutes". === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ɡwu.xɔˈɲɛm.t͡sɘ/ Rhymes: -ɛmt͡sɘ Syllabification: Głu‧cho‧niem‧cy === Noun === Głuchoniemcy m pers pl the Walddeutsche ==== Declension ==== === Further reading === “Głuchoniemcy”, in Polish dictionaries at PWN‎[1] (in Polish)
