== Alemannic German == === Etymology === From Middle High German gülle (“puddle”), ultimately from Proto-Germanic *guljō, perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰeyh₁- (“to gape, yawn”), whence Proto-Germanic *gīnaną.
