=== Etymology ===
Borrowed from Ancient Greek εὐκαρπία (eukarpía, “bountifulness, fruitfulness”), from εὐ- (eu-, “good”) + κᾰρπός (kărpós, “crop, such as fruit or grain”) + -ία (-ía, abstract-noun suffix). Compare also Greek Ευκαρπία (Efkarpía, “suburb of Thessaloniki”). Coined by English entomologist Francis Walker in 1857.
