Elsteren

التعريفات والمعاني

== Dutch == === Alternative forms === 't Aèlstere (dialect form) === Etymology === First attested as elsler in 1251. The oldest attestation suggests a compound derived from els (“alder, Alnus”) and laar (“intensively cultivated forest”). It is possible, however, that the oldest attestation is a scribal error, and that the toponym thus derives from a compound of els and Old Dutch *tere (“tree”). Compare Appeltern and the German hydronym Elster. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈɛl.stə.rə(n)/ Hyphenation: El‧ste‧ren === Proper noun === Elsteren n a hamlet in Bergen, Limburg, Netherlands === References === van Berkel, Gerard; Samplonius, Kees (2018), Nederlandse plaatsnamen verklaard (in Dutch), Mijnbestseller.nl, →ISBN
