التعريفات والمعاني
== Dutch ==
=== Etymology ===
Eck is first attested as in eki in 953. Wiel is first attested as wiele in 1347. Eck is derived from either a term cognate to Old Norse ekja (“dirt track, rut left by a wagon”) or from Proto-Germanic *agjô- (“pointed, tapered”). A proposed derivation from eik (“oak, Quercus”) is impossible. Wiel is derived from wiel (“kolk lake”).
