From Middle English Ecclesiastes, from Latin Ecclēsiastēs, from Ancient Greek Ἐκκλησιαστής (Ekklēsiastḗs) according to the Septuagint. The Greek word is a loan translation of Hebrew קֹהֶלֶת, from Hebrew קָהָל.
