Borrowed from Arabic ذُو الْكِفْل (ḏū l-kifl) From Arabic ذُو (ḏū, “owner”) and كِفْل (kifl, “lot, portion, share”): "He who possesses the lot." The meaning of this is unclear. First attested in the Quran (at 21:85 and 38:48).
