(occupation): A slight distinction is usually made between Besetzung and Besatzung of a country. The former is the act of invading and occupying, while Besatzung is the continued foreign military rule over a certain period of time.
(positions of appointment): For the individuals or collective having the roles conducive to operating a vehicle, particularly ship or airplane, Besatzung is used. For the action of filling these positions, Besatzung is not used.
