Appeltern

التعريفات والمعاني

== Dutch == === Etymology === First attested as de apeltre in 1139. Likely a compound of Old Dutch apel (“apple”) and *tere (“tree”). Proposed derivations from Proto-Germanic *apuldra- (“apple tree”) or Old Dutch apuldra (“apple tree”) are phonologically problematic. The element *tere appears to have been reinterpreted as heem (“home, settlement”) at some point. Compare Apeldoorn, Aperloo, Ter Apel, Apuldram, Apeldorn and Appeldorn. See also Elsteren. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈɑ.pəlˌtɛrn/ Hyphenation: Ap‧pel‧tern === Proper noun === Appeltern n a village and former municipality of West Maas en Waal, Gelderland, Netherlands ==== Derived terms ==== Appelterner Appelterns === References === van Berkel, Gerard; Samplonius, Kees (2018), Nederlandse plaatsnamen verklaard (in Dutch), Mijnbestseller.nl, →ISBN
