alternative spelling of Algarbe
==== Usage notes ====
There are good arguments for either spelling: Algarve is the Portuguese version of the toponym, whereas Algarbe more closely resembles the Arabic root; as such, neither spelling is officially proscribed. In any case, both spellings are homophonic due to the betacism ubiquitous in modern Spanish.
