Borrowed from Ancient Greek Ἀκροκόρινθος (Akrokórinthos), from ἄκρος (ákros, “tip, summit, citadel”) + Κόρινθος (Kórinthos, “Corinth”).

Lewis and Short give the initial vowel as long, but this does not seem to be justified either metrically or etymologically.
