Cognate with Latvian -uot. The suffix has also been compared to the similar -áuti, which is further related to Old Prussian -aut and Proto-Slavic *-ovati, but the plausibility of the "uo" sound change is debated.

Forms verbs from other parts of speech, in the meaning of generally activity.
skaičius (“number”) + -uoti → skaičiuoti (“to count”)
vairas (“steer”) + -uoti → vairuoti (“to steer”)
