== Navajo == === Etymology === Nominalized form of yishchį́, perfect passive of yiłchí (“to make, create, give birth”) from the root -CHĮ́ (“to come into being”). It is nominalized with the suffix -ii, which sometimes take the form of a lengthened verb stem. yishchį́ + -ii = yishchíín === Suffix === -shchíín facsimile, simulacrum of ‎awééʼ (“baby”) + ‎-shchíín → ‎awééshchíín (“(baby) doll”) ==== Derived terms ==== === References === Robert W.
