This suffix was formed from verbs of the first conjugation (-āre), and is therefore a variety of the more general -tiō (from which Dutch -tie). === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈaː.tsi/, (standard in Belgium, chiefly low-prestige in the Netherlands) /ˈaː.si/ === Suffix === -atie f Forms action nouns. Many such nouns derive from or are otherwise paired with verbs of Latinate origin that are suffixed with -eren. This suffix is then replaced by -atie.
