== Turkish == === Etymology === From Ottoman Turkish شمشك (şimşek), from Old Anatolian Turkish سوكوشاك (sügüşek/süŋüşek), سوكوشاك (sügşek/süŋşek), which is believed to be a derivation of Proto-Turkic *süŋgü (“spear”). First attested in texts from between 1355 and 1402.
